Jothimani is a dedicated VCK activist and the son of veteran party leader Ilaiya Perumal. He has been deeply involved in grassroots Dalit rights work in the Cuddalore district for over a decade. Originally the seat was announced for VCK President Thol. Thirumavalavan, who later withdrew citing political pressure, making way for Jothimani to carry the VCK flag in this pivotal SC-reserved constituency.
