VCK Files ECI Affidavit for 8 Candidates — Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), contesting as part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance, has filed official Election Commission of India affidavits (Format C-7 and Format C-1) for all 8 candidates in the Tamil Nadu Assembly General Election 2026. Polling is scheduled for 23 April 2026, with results on 4 May 2026.

As mandated by the Hon'ble Supreme Court order dated 25 September 2018 (WP Civil No. 536/2011 — Public Interest Foundation vs. Union of India), all political parties are required to publicly disclose criminal antecedents of their candidates via Format C-7 (party declaration) and Format C-1 (candidate's public declaration). VCK has complied fully with this requirement.

VCK contests 6 SC-reserved seats and 2 General seats, reflecting the party's core commitment to Dalit political representation. The party's President, Thol. Thirumavalavan, has personally signed all Format C-7 declarations.

Party Declaration

Candidate's Public Declaration

The candidate's own sworn public declaration of all pending criminal cases. This is published in newspapers and displayed at the party's office as mandated by the Supreme Court's September 2018 judgment to ensure voter awareness before the election.

Legal Mandate

These disclosures are made pursuant to the judgment dated 25th September 2018 of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in WP (Civil) No. 536 of 2011 (Public Interest Foundation & Ors. Vs. Union of India & Anr.) and the Election Commission of India's guidelines. The party is required to publish Format C-1 in newspapers and display it prominently at party office(s) at least three times before polling day.
